CVFD to host Inaugural Italian Festival

ST. CLAIR TOWNSHIP — The Calcutta Volunteer Fire Department (CVFD) will be hosting its Inaugural Italian Festival on Aug. 16 from noon to 10 p.m. at Dunham’s Plaza.

All proceeds from the event will go to CVFD to use for purchasing equipment and hosting future events.

The entry fee into the event to experience a taste of Italy is $5 for all ages and is cash only. There will be an ATM on site.

The event will feature all day music entertainment, beer trailer, spirits, Italian food trucks and regular food.

A Bocce Ball competition with a cash prize and $10 entry fee begins at 1 p.m.

At 2 p.m. there will be a cannoli eating contest which has a $5 entry fee.

The CVFD Italian Fest King and Queen and Princes and Princesses Pageant for youth ages 4 to 17 will be held at 4:30 p.m. There is a $10 entry fee and entrants must be registered by Aug. 4. The first five entrants in each age group and gender will be entered for competition. Registration forms can be downloaded from the CVFD’s Facebook page or picked up at the CVFD, 15445 Pugh Road, Calcutta.

Awards for the furthest traveled police or fire department and the largest group of police or fire department will be presented at 6 p.m.

The live music schedule is Beckey Kimble, noon to 2 p.m.; Nunzio and the Melodys, 2:30 to 4:30 p.m.; DJ Childs spinning tunes from 4:30 to 7:30 p.m., and 7% Superstar from 8 to 10 p.m.

A free shuttle service will be provided from 3 to 9 p.m. for customers going from the event to JP’s Pizzeria & Grille, A-1 Sports Bar, Case De Emanuel and Saddle Ridge.

An after party will be hosted at Saddle Ridge Jersey Shore Night beginning at 9 p.m.
