WELLSVILLE — The Buckeye Water District (BWD) Board of Trustees voted on Tuesday to adopt the resolution approving Dallis Dawson and Associates to provide engineering and design services for the Beaver Creek Buckeye State Park Water Line Extension Project.
The resolution also provides authorization for the BWD to enter into a contract with Dawson Dallis and Associates to provide the services at a cost of $198,700.
The resolution was adopted with a 7-0 vote. Board President David Dawson abstained from the vote and board member Nicholas Wise was absent.
The project involves the extension of the BWD’s water distribution system along state Route 7 and Leslie Road to service Beaver Creek State Park Campground.
The project will begin at the end of the existing water line along state Route 7 which is located approximately 200 feet north of Bell School Road and continue along state Route 7 crossing under the Middle Fork and West Fork of Little Beaver Creek for approximately 4,300 feet to the intersection of Leslie Road and then continue northeast along Leslie Road for approximately 4,500 feet to the entrance of Beaver Creek State Park Campground, according to the proposal submitted by Dallis Dawson and Associates.
The $198,700 fee includes $77,200 for engineering design including environmental and geological investigations, $111,180 for detailed engineering design and $10,400 for final plan package, pre-bid and bid.
District Manager Al DeAngelis in his submitted report said all repairs were completed in two days on the 500,000-gallon tank on state Route 45 and the Spring Hills tank relining has been started and is expected to take two weeks to complete. The water line replacement project by the county on Calcutta Smith Ferry Road is almost completed and is expected to be finished in two weeks. The district’s distribution crew has fixed three leaks and installed a tap.
DeAngelis also said that the BWD has received a public notice from the Army Corp of Engineers for the issuance of a permit for the dredging of the marina in Wellsville.
DeAngelis’s report noted that the BWD met with Arcadis Engineering to form on a plan on how Arcadis will begin surveying the district’s lead service line connections
The BWD is flushing hydrants in the Wellsville and Salineville area during July and customers could see some discoloration in their water during flushing. Customers are advised to check the BWD website to know when flushing in their area will begin.
Board members approved the operations report, district manager’s report, and treasurer’s report as presented to them.
There were no public comments, bid openings, old business or new business.
