WORK IN PROGRESS

Despite the cold temperatures, renovations and repairs continued on Friday on the J.C. Thompson Building in downtown East Liverpool. In 2024, the city received more than $627,000 in tax credits from the Ohio Department of Development and $600,000 through the JobsOhio’s Vibrandt Community Grant to help restore the building. That grant was announced as part of a $4.2 million public and private partnership between the State of Ohio and East Liverpool during a visit from Ohio Gov. Mike DeWine in October. When completed, the first floor of the building will be used for retail, while the floor will be the new home of the Buckeye Online School for Success and the third floor converted into loft-style apartments occupying the third floor.
