The St. Clair Township trustees were unanimous in their vote during Tuesday's trustees to move $2 million of the township's money into a Star Ohio Account.
The decision was based on the fact that with a Star Ohio account the township would see a daily yield of 5.4% interest which would be a much higher rate than they currently have which is 0.5%.
The trustees also approved the opening of a non-interest-bearing account for the safe keeping of money lost, stolen, abandoned or confiscated/seized by the police department.
Also, unanimously approved were motions to accept a new service agreement with Unifirst for road department uniforms which would save the township $82 on a weekly basis, to accept the current chip and seal program pending the March 12 meeting with the County Engineer's Office, the purchase and installation of an under carriage wash for the township's dump trucks at a cost of $3,400 a maintenance contract with Balzer's Heating and cooling for maintenance in March, June, September and December for the Township Administration Building.
The trustees approved the police department to accept a check of $3,200 from Chicago Motors for the sale of one of the department's 2013 Ford Explorers, which is no longer needed.
Trustees Jordan Williams and Robert Swickard were named as representatives on the Calcutta Volunteer Fire Department's Dependency Board.
Fiscal Officer Deborah Dawson said she attended a Community Development implementation Strategy meeting and submitted a few requests for CBDG money for the township.
Trustees approved payments for purchase orders totaling $40,097.40, blanket certificates totaling $4,750 and bills totaling $81,118.89.
There will be a S. Clair Township Travel and Tourism meeting on March 14 at 7 p.m. at the Township Administration Building.
The next regular meeting will be held on March 25.
