New unique hot dog coming to the EL Hot Dog Shoppe

EAST LIVERPOOL — The Hot Dog Shoppe is preparing to roll out a new unique premium hot dog.

According to a media release, the Akaushi Wagyu hot dog is unlike any other hot dog around and will elevate the taste buds of hot dog lovers.

The 100% all beef hot dog will be available for a soft introduction at all four Northeast Ohio Hot Dog Shoppes located in East Liverpool, Warren, Boardman and Girard beginning Feb. 26.

The hot dogs are unique in that they are beef and made from Akaushi, which is a specific breed of Wagyu cattle which originated in Japan and often referred to as Japanese Red Beef.

“Wagyu is a collective term for all Japanese cattle. ‘Wagyu’ translates simply enough as ‘Japanese cow,'” according to www.heartbrandbeef.com. “Akaushi is a specific Wagyu cattle breed, separate and distinct from other Japanese cattle breeds. Wagyu is known around the world for its unbelievable taste, texture and tenderness. Akaushi takes the unbelievable taste, texture and tenderness to the next level.”

There are no added hormones, steroids or antibiotics in the Akaushi beef, which is unique in that it has a higher concentration of monounsaturated fat which the American Heart Association notes can lead to lower cholesterol, the prevention of coronary heart disease, and weight loss, according to a media release from The Hot Dog Shoppe Inc. It is also reported to be a natural source of oleic acid, which is proven to be good for the heart.

For a limited time, the Wagyu hot dogs will be available at the Hot Dog Shoppe for $4.29.

Starting at $3.75/week.
