LISBON – Jordan Williams is set to be the Columbiana County Career and Technical Center's new assistant superintendent next school year after the board approved his three-year contract during its regular meeting Tuesday.
Williams has worked in education for 15 years and is currently the high school principal. He has also worked at the career center as a social studies teacher.
Williams is a 2003 graduate of Beaver Local High School. He earned a Bachelor of Science in education from Kent State University and a Master of Science in education administration from Franciscan University of Steubenville.
In an evocative moment, Superintendent Chuck Adkins mentioned that Williams' father also worked in education.
"He has followed in his dad's footsteps. I was privileged to work with his dad, Gary, as an administrator at Beaver Local," Adkins said. "Gary was absolutely top-notch, as is his son."
As a formality to allow for Williams' contract approval, current Assistant Superintendent Jeremy Corbisello resigned in his position. Corbisello is set to take over for current Superintendent Chuck Adkins next school year and was hired for that position last summer.
He started as an administrator at the career center in 2005. Prior to that, he spent five years in the classroom-- one year with the Parma City School District and four years with the Beaver Local School District.
"We certainly do appreciate all the efforts Mr. Corbisello has put into the career center and what he'll continue to do with his entire team here in the future," Adkins said.
The board also approved a five-year contract for Treasurer Katherine "Kathy" Scanlon.
"She has done an outstanding job," Adkins said. "It's really such a blessing to know that we've got somebody in Kathy's position making sure we're on the right line and making sure that we utilize the funds appropriately for the benefit of students."
The board also accepted the resignation of science teacher Tamela James, who is retiring at the end of the school year. James spent her entire career at CCCTC, starting in 1990, Adkins said.
"She's been an asset to us in a variety of programs," he said.
The board also approved the hiring of two adult education instructors for the current school year at a rate of $27 per hour, not to exceed 950 hours-- Eric Buday and Charles Hillman.
The Columbiana County Career and Technical Center Board will next meet in the central office board room at 9364 state Route 45 in Lisbon at 7 p.m. March 19.
