LISBON -- The jury trial for a Salem woman charged for allegedly failing to stop after the pickup she was driving struck a pedestrian who then died remains set for March 25.
According to court documents regarding a recent interim status hearing in Columbiana County Common Pleas Court, no resolution had been reached in the case against Patricia Lynn Phillips, 29, Vine Street, who appeared with her defense attorney Lynn Maro. The state was represented by county Assistant Prosecutor Steve Yacovone.
Patricia Phillips was charged with failure to stop after an accident, a third-degree felony, for allegedly failing to immediately stop after striking 46-year-old Brandy Lynn Lasky on state Route 344 on March 11, 2022. Lasky died while walking in the westbound lane of the road after midnight. Patricia Phillips allegedly left the scene and Lasky was found unresponsive with a head wound.
A final status hearing remains set for 1 p.m. March 11 before Judge Scott Washam.
According to the indictment, Patricia Phillips was operating a 2005 Ford F-350 registered to Brandon Seddon when the accident occurred.
Last week, her sister, Brandy Phillips, 31, Granite Street, Salem, entered a guilty plea to obstructing justice, a fifth-degree felony, related to her actions that day for allegedly communicating false information. Her sentencing remains set for 3:20 p.m. Feb. 12 before Common Pleas Court Judge Megan Bickerton.
