The following was posted by the East Liverpool School District:
East Liverpool City Schools along with numerous other schools across Ohio and the United States have received an email bomb threat claiming to be a Russian terrorist organization as a retaliation for the United States' support for Ukraine.
In keeping with our district's crisis communication plan, our district administration has reported the incident to the City of East Liverpool Police and Liverpool Township Police. Additionally, the Department of Homeland Security and FBI have been notified as well.
According to Ohio Attorney General David Yost, the Ohio Homeland Security, Terrorism Analysis Unit and the Statewide Terrorism and Center, the emails appear to be part of a swatting campaign with no credible threat detected.
None of these nationwide threats have been authenticated, however the East Liverpool City Schools have notified East Liverpool & Liverpool Township Police Department who have taken multiple precautions to ensure our number one priority is the safety of our staff and our students.
We are working with our local law enforcement agencies to assure additional security measures and extra police presence will be available for our students, staff and families.
Our buildings will be operating on time on Monday, December 11th and will update you as more details become available.
Please remain vigilant and report any suspicious activities and/or individuals to our local police departments.
