LISBON -- Columbiana County Common Pleas Judge Megan Bickerton officially filed her petitions at the Columbiana County Board of Elections and announced her intention to seek re-election.
"Serving as a Judge in the Court of Common Pleas in the county I grew up in has been the highest honor. I've dedicated the last six years to defending the rule of law and keeping our communities safe. I look forward to continuing serving Columbiana County with integrity, dedication, and a steadfast commitment to justice," Bickerton wrote in a press release.
Bickerton was first elected in 2018 as the first female Judge in the Columbiana County Court of Common Pleas.
"One of my goals in my first term was to establish a Drug Court specialty docket in the Columbiana County Court of Common Pleas. I am proud to say that with the assistance of my dedicated staff, we have succeeded in doing so and I've experienced firsthand the positive impact we've had on so many lives. Through the specialty docket we've been able to provide additional resources to those afflicted with addiction issues and hold them accountable. Most importantly, we are rehabilitating families and saving lives in the battle against drug addiction," she wrote.
Bickerton is a lifelong Columbiana County resident. She and her husband, David, reside in St. Clair Township with their sons, Wesley and Jack.
She'll be seeking the Republican nomination in the March 19 primary for a second term on the bench. No other candidates filed for Court of Common Pleas judge by the deadline Wednesday.
