EAST LIVERPOOL -- During its meeting on Wednesday, the East Liverpool Civil Service Commission approved the hiring of Police Officer Jonathan Potts who was sworn in last week.
The commission also approved the testing date for the lieutenant and the assistant chief for the East Liverpool Fire Department for Nov. 16 from 9 to 11 a.m. at the Community and Learning Center.
Also approved was the temporary appointment of Kevin Thompson for police captain effective Oct. 20. The appointment is until a test for captain is given and the police chief can hire someone who passes to fill the position.
The commission is not expecting this to happen until January. There are multiple captain positions to fill in the East Liverpool Police Department.
The Civil Service Commission will meet on Dec. 6 at 2 p.m. in council chambers at City Hall.
