LISBON -- No one spoke for or against the banning of large solar facilities and large wind farms in unincorporated areas of St. Clair, Liverpool and Yellow Creek townships during a public hearing Wednesday.
Columbiana County commissioners hosted the hearing for the final three townships in the county seeking the bans. The commissioners have already approved the bans for 15 of the 18 townships in the county, meaning construction of the large wind farms and large solar facilities will be prohibited.
Written testimony regarding the proposed bans for the unincorporated areas of St. Clair, Liverpool and Yellow Creek townships may be submitted to the county commissioners by 4 p.m. Oct. 13. The comments should be addressed to the Columbiana County Board of Commissioners and sent to the commissioners' office at 105 S. Market St., Lisbon, Ohio 44432.
In other business, commissioners requested no hearing for a liquor license permit for the Rootstown 44 Corp doing business as Guilford Lake Grille, gave permission for use of the courthouse parking lot to the Lisbon Area Chamber of Commerce for the Zombie Crawl planned from 2 to 5 p.m. Oct. 28, approved an addendum to the Community Based Corrections Subsidy Grant for the county drug court and authorized the president of the board to sign the monitor services agreement through Sentinel Offender Services.
The commissioners also approved new employee hirings as recommended by county Department of Job and Family Services Director Rachel Ketterman, with Christopher McKinnon and Samantha Shasteen, both of Lisbon, hired as Unit Support Workers in the Social Service Division.
The commissioners will meet again at 9 a.m. Oct. 11 in the downtown courthouse.
