EAST LIVERPOOL -- In a special session of the East Liverpool City Council held Monday, two ordinances regarding charges to the Storm Water Fund were passed with emergency measures.
The first ordinance passed allowed the Storm Water Fund to be charged $18,000, which will be posted to the Water Fund for postage billing.
The ordinance states that the Water Fund is responsible for the billing of the utility bills and the Sewer and Refuse and Recycling funds currently make payments to the water fund for their share of the billing. The Storm Water Fund, which was created in October of 2019, has not paid the Water Department for postage since the fund was established.
The ordinance also says that a one-time fee of $54,000 will be charged and a monthly payment of $1,500 beginning in January of 2023 is to be made from the Storm Fund to the Water Fund for reimbursement of postage.
The second ordinance passed was to amend the budget ordinance by adjusting appropriations from the Storm Water Fund to the Water Fund.
The ordinances were discussed and approved to send onto council for a vote during a special Finance Committee meeting held immediately prior to the special council meeting.
Both ordinances passed with an all-in-favor vote by the members present. Council member John Mercer was absent and excused from the meeting.
Additionally, council unanimously approved Mayor Greg Bricker's request to appoint Tim Clark to the Board of Public Utilities.
The East Liverpool City Council meets the first Monday of each month at 6 p.m. in Council Chambers, third floor, East Liverpool City Hall. The next regular meeting is scheduled for Nov. 6.
