LIVERPOOL TOWNSHIP -- Liverpool Township will be providing a school resource officer for the East Liverpool City Schools.
Township trustees Tuesday night unanimously approved a contract to provide the officer following an executive session to discuss the contract. Officer Robert Ramsey will be the officer at Westgate Middle and LaCroft Elementary schools for four hours a day at each school.
In other business, Fire Chief Dave Ward told trustees that calls were up, but all was good with the Liverpool Township Fire Department.
The chief noted that all the trucks were in service, but engine 22 would be going today for a new computer module.
Police Chief Jared Kinemond said that he had an officer signed up for firearms instructor training.
Kinemond also noted that the department's F150 which has been at the dealership for three weeks would be moved to another dealership in Columbiana or Salem for repairs, due to the dealership repeatedly going back and forth between telling him there is nothing wrong with the vehicle to finding the problem to finding nothing wrong.
Chris Bosworth of the road department said that everything was good in the shop and the department had received a delivery of cold patch and were out patching the roads. He also said the department was on the third round of mowing and trimming back trees to get ready for next year's chip and seal program.
Trustee Keith Burke added that he had reached out the engineer's office to see when paving was going to start and they were unable to give him a date.
The Litter Program with the help of three juveniles and one supervisor from the Juvenile Probation Program picked up 14 bags of litter on Parkway from Drury Lane to the American Legion over the weekend, bringing the total number of bags of litter collected over the summer to 56. The program will hold another litter pick up day, but the date has not yet been determined.
The trustees continue to work with the health department to get blighted and nuisance properties cleaned up.
The Liverpool Township Trustees meet every other Tuesday at 3 p.m. in the Township Administration Office. The next meeting is scheduled for Sept. 5.
