EAST LIVERPOOL -- East Liverpool City Council held a special meeting Wednesday to pass four ordinances by emergency measure.
The ordinances included authorizing the auditor to pay certain vendors, amending the budget ordinance by adjusting appropriations, authorizing the Board of Control to purchase and ambulance and authorizing the safety service director to enter into a contract for construction for the Dresden Avenue Phase One project.
All council members were present to vote on the ordinances with the exception of Brian Kerr, who was excused due to being out of town. The four ordinances passed with a unanimous vote.
The ordinance for the ambulance approves the purchase of a 2022 Osage Ford super duty ambulance from Myers Equipment Corporation which the fire department is expecting delivery of on Monday. The cost of the ambulance ordered in December of 2021 is $218,723, which is being paid for with funds from the fire department's funds and grant money.
The Dresden Avenue Project ordinance allows for the city to enter into a contract with Omnipro Services LLC for the construction, administration and inspection of the Columbiana Dresden Avenue Project Phase 1. The city and Omnipro were scheduled to sign the contract on July 17 but that has been delayed and is expected to be signed within a couple of weeks.
According to the contract once signed, Omnipro has 90 days from the date of the contract to complete the project. The bid submitted by Omipro estimates the project to cost $76,886. The gas company will be replacing gas lines where the work will take place.
Council also took a voice vote to determine if a public hearing would be needed for Ray Stevens' application for a liquor license permit at the restaurant he is opening on the Diamond. With a unanimous vote council members agreed to forgo a public hearing and allow Stevens to apply for the permit.
East Liverpool City Council meets the first Monday of each month in the council chambers on the third floor of City Hall at 6 p.m. The next meeting is scheduled for Aug. 7.
