LISBON -- A new high school principal is in place for the coming school year at Beaver Local.
The board of education recently approved a three-year administrative contract for Aaron Walker, who is new to the district.
Walker will fill the vacancy left by outgoing principal James Riccardo whose resignation was approved by the board in June.
District Superintendent Eric Lowe said that Walker has many years of administrative experience at West Branch, Waterloo and Copley schools.
Lowe also said that the district currently has filled all of the outstanding openings and that summer maintenance items were "moving along nicely."
Also during the meeting, Lowe and the board wished to thank mechanic Robert Rose for his years of service.
Rose's retirement resignation was approved by the board and takes effect on Aug. 31.
Lowe said that Rose has served in a variety of roles in both transportation and custodial work and that he has always been willing to jump in and help do whatever he can to assist the district.
"He has been an outstanding employee and one that will be missed," Lowe said.
Board member Brian McKenzie also extended appreciation to second grade teacher Hillary Berger and special education teacher Derrick Stickles for their efforts and work in the district over the years.
Both Berger and Stickles' resignations were approved during the meeting.
Lowe also provided an update regarding the new budget bill signed by Gov. Mike DeWine and its impact on school districts.
He said there are a number of items that will impact school districts and that the district will be working to "navigate these changes from the bill."
