East Palestine brother/sister music duo set to release first EP

Music Duo Ken and Kim Stull

EAST PALESTINE — Brother/sister music duo Kenny and Kim Stull will be releasing their first EP Saturday.

A concert celebrating the seven-song EP titled “Kenny and Kim Stull-Keep Pressing On” will be held at 6 p.m. Saturday at the church where Kenny pastors — Mount Calvary Community Church, 1993 Waterford Road, East Palestine.

Of the seven songs on the EP, three have already been released individually on most of the digital streaming platforms.

Kenny described the duo’s style of music as faith country, which is country music with positive lyrics. He said some people may refer to it as gospel country.

“We are totally stoked,” Kenny said of the EP’s release.

The duo said they have been in and out of music their whole lives and have done some minor projects in the past before totally getting out of music for years, until this opportunity presented itself.

Kim said she is excited about having this opportunity, especially after having brain surgery in 2019.

“I had some down time after that, so to be able to come through that and get back to work and be able to do what we are doing now with the music industry is exciting,” she said.

According to Kenny, the deal to record the EP came last June when he got an unexpected phone call from Nashville from music producer Rick Schweinsberg.

According to Kenny, Rick said Kenny’s name jumped off his screen at him after Kenny commented on a post or something of his and Schweinsberg felt impressed by the Lord to contact him and Kim the next day after seeing a couple of older YouTube videos the duo had done.

Kenny said he had been feeling stagnated in the ministry for about eight months prior to the phone call and told his wife he just really needed something supernatural to him such as a phone call from Schweinsberg or somebody from Nashville.

“Five minutes after I got done whining and crying to her, my phone buzzed with a PM from Rick (Schweinsberg) and we touched base the next day,” Kenny said. “He spent 45 minutes on the phone with us and then he arranged for a meet and great.”

Kenny went on to say after the phone call he and Kim went to Nashville where Schweinsberg gave them a tour and spent over three hours going through their songs before he invited the duo to join Steeple Country, which is a division of Godsey Media.

In addition to their Saturday concert, the duo will also be performing at The Ark Encounter in Williamstown, Kentucky, June 14 and at the Pottery Festival in East Liverpool on July 1.

The duo noted that they are always looking for musicians to play with them.
