LISBON -- Dave Hoperich of Leetonia hung up his tool belt Wednesday, retiring as the maintenance supervisor for the Government Services Building and Columbiana County Municipal Court Building.

"During his 12 years, Dave has worked with a variety of entities and assisted in many projects. His work has been thorough and meticulous. Throughout Dave's employment he has shown dedication and excellence," a proclamation read by county Department of Job and Family Services Director Rachel Ketterman said.

County commissioners approved the proclamation to recognize his service to the county and wished him well, with Commissioner Tim Weigle quipping with a smile, "retirement denied," garnering some chuckles.

His first day on the job was Aug 23, 2012, previously working in the engineering department of Akron Children's Hospital in Boardman and working 34 years in the offset printing business for Superior Printing in Warren and Amos Communications in Westville.

Hoperich and his wife Monica, who's already retired, have three sons and two granddaughters.

"I'm going to spend time with them," he said, but added about leaving, "I'm going to miss everybody."

The Government Services Building houses a number of county-related entities, including the DJFS, county Board of Elections and Veterans Service Commission. The county Municipal Court Building serves as home to the court and the county title department.
