EAST LIVERPOOL -- East Liverpool Mayor Gregory Bricker and Wellsville Mayor Bob Boley have already started to engage in playful banter over whose team will take home the trophy as the two prepare to battle it out on the basketball court.

Both mayors along with their own senior teams will compete against each other in an Old Gray Mares basketball game to benefit United Way of Southern Columbiana County and the nine local agencies supported by United Way.

The game, which has a $5 admission, will take place at Daw Jr. High School in Wellsville at 6 p.m. Saturday.

The event will also have a Chinese auction with items donated by United Way board members, a 50/50 raffle and refreshments available for purchase.

Sponsorship for the game has raised $2,100. Sponsors include The Heldman Family, Wise Buys, Wellsville Save-A-lot, Amato Law Office, Clearly the Best, Integrative Staffing, Judge Timothy McNicol, Consumer's National Bank, Roberts Funeral Home Inc., Newell Bridge and Rail Company, Care Funeral & Cremation Specialists-Maclean Chapel, Slacks Antique Mall, Pier 47 Stevedoring LLC, Wellsville Terminals Company, D.J. Rayford, Mark's Jewlery Repair and Gifts, Heritage Thermal Services, River Valley Organizing and Fiesta Dinnerware.

All proceeds from the sponsorships and game will go to benefit the organizations served by United Way of Southern Columbiana County.
