LIVERPOOL TOWNSHIP --The Liverpool Township Trustees announced Tuesday dates for chip and seal and provided a tentative list of roadways to be completed.
The chip and seal work will be completed May 16-18 and the following roads are expected to be done at an estimated cost for the asphalt emulsion of $86,561.16:
Peterson Road, McClain Road, Payne Avenue, Oakgrove, La-Neve Road, Owens Road, East View Road, Bnai-Jacob Lane, John Campbell Road, Spruce Avenue, Anderson Drive, Juanita Ave and Dunn Road.
Paving of Candle, Lighthouse and Lantern roads is expected to be done later in the summer using Issue 2 money from the state.
Trustee Mike Bahen asked for a motion to allow for the purchase of turnout gear and equipment lost while firefighters were assisting with the Feb. 3 train derailment in East Palestine.
The township's fire department filed a claim with the insurance company for reimbursement.
The total cost to replace five sets of turn out gear is $18,225 and the cost per truck to replace the tires on the two engines is $4,470 for a total of $26, 665. The insurance company is reimbursing $17,725 of that cost.
The motion was approved.
Ttownship road supervisor Chris Bosworth requested a motion for a schedule change for the road department. He requested employees be permitted to work four 10-hour days with three days off instead of the currently scheduled five eight-hour days with two days off. He noted after summer they would switch back to the five-day work week. The trustees approved the schedule change.
Bosworth also requested approval for $880 for the rental of a street sweeper to get the roads cleared for chip and seal and for the approval of a load of cold patch at approximately $2,400 which he said should be enough to get though the middle of summer. Both motions were approved.
The trustees also approved a motion for the repair of the fire department's mini pumper truck at a cost of $8,800.
Supplemental appropriations in the Fire District Fund line item for operating supplies at $15,000 and repairs and maintenance at $20,000 were approved.
Total warrants approved to be paid out were $112,655.71.
