Working at Subway is ‘a dream come true’
SALEM- “A dream come true,” is how Salem resident Corena Foor described working at the Subway restaurant on East 2nd Street in Salem.
“From the time I was a kid, I wanted to work at Subway making sandwiches,” Foor said with a smile. “I now get to do that, and I love it.”
Foor is a vital part of the Subway team according to District Manager Ashley McGuire, who previously was the store manager.
“Corena puts the customer first,” said McGuire. “She is very good at customer service. She is very patient. Reliability is another of Corena’s many qualities. If she is scheduled to be here, she is here. She also has come in many times when others have called off.”
The East 2nd Street Subway was recently recognized by the Columbiana County Board of Developmental Disabilities’ Reach 4 More Employment Program for its association with Foor.
McGuire noted that in addition to working as a Sandwich artist behind the counter, Foor can also be seen in the cleaning and food preparation aspects of the business.
“Corena is a great person to have on our team,” McGuire stated. “She is a wonderful person who is tremendous at interacting with our other employees and the customers.”
“Employers such as Ashley are a pleasure to work with. They truly care about their employees,” said Paul Anthony, Reach 4 More’s Business Engagement Specialist. “She realizes the contribution that Corena makes to the business.”
“We have potential employees who can succeed in many types of businesses,” said CCBDD superintendent Bill Devon. We value the relationship we have with local businesses such as Subway.”
When asked what she likes best about working at Subway, Foor said, “I like hanging out with the other employees and doing my best to make the customers happy. I like to see them smile.”
When she is not working, Foor likes to go shopping and spend time with her family.
