St. Clair Township approves the purchase of multiple vehicles

CALCUTTA — St. Clair Township police and drug law enforcement will be getting a new vehicle. Trustees met for their regular meeting Monday and approved the purchase of a 2022 Ford F150 pick-up truck. The cost will be split between the police and drug law enforcement’s budgets, according to chairman James Sabatini II.

“The cost after trade-in from Tri-State Ford is $21,812,” he said. “Drug law enforcement fund is $10,906 and the police fund is $10,906.”

Trustees also approved the financing of a new 2022 Dodge Durango pursuit vehicle #4944, which Sabatini said is replacing another vehicle.

“We are going to go with the three year lower interest rate. … for the cost of a 2022 Dodge Durango $35,840 at three years of monthly payments of $1,058.94,” Sabatini said.

The vehicle is coming from Columbiana Jeep and the township is using US Bank financing, said fiscal officer Deborah dawson.

Trustees also voted to approve financing of a New Holland TS6.110 tractor from Vernon Dell for a four-year lease through CHM Capital. The financing term expires May 24,2026 with annual payments of $15,218.14. The total lease price is $76,098.15, Dawson said, and the purchase price of the tractor is $69,155.09.

In other business, trustees approved the amended resolution approving the OneOhio Region 11 governance structure under a OneOhio memorandum of understanding. Dawson said the resolution is in regard to opioid funds that are going to be available through the state for the township level and explained the process to the trustees.

“There had to be a board that was formed in order to do this and Paul Lease is the president of the Columbiana County Township Association. By default they have just said any president of the township associations will be the representative for this group,” Dawson said. “It’s just funds that will be used to fight opioid type things. I don’t know how much we will get but it’s millions of dollars but it’s statewide. So we are involved and we have done it from the beginning.”

Dawson said Heidi Bott will be at the July 6 trustees meeting and she will be speaking about the OneOhio Region 11.

Trustees also passed a resolution to exclude the approval of the city of Salem regarding Local Government Fund monies. Sabatini explained it to the trustees. “Approval would be otherwise required for an alternative method for apportionment of the Local Government Fund monies to be distributed in 2023,” Sabatini said. “East Liverpool was the most heavily populated and now it’s Salem and in order for the LGF money to be distributed the way it has continued to be distributed we have to do this.”

The next meeting will be held at 4 p.m. on Wednesday, July 6.
