LACROFT -- Liverpool Township trustees agreed to spend the first moneys of its American Rescue Plan (ARP) funds Monday night.
Trustees unanimously agreed to spend a maximum of $14,482 on extending Comcast service to 16 township homes on Stagecoach Road, which is a permitted use, according to federal guidelines.
A portion of the road also falls in St. Clair Township.
Mike Bahen said the matter became a real priority when many of the road's residents found them working from home during the pandemic and encountered sketchy internet access. He said that Comcast estimate that the cost be around $40,000 but expects the township's share of the project to be around one-third.
Earlier in the meeting, trustees had agreed to retroactively accept the first installment of their ARP money, which was $197,770 and to create to pay expenditures that meet the guidelines.
In other action, trustees:
– Approved a resolution to supplement the appropriations in the Gasoline Tax Fund in the amount of $1,867.85 towards paying the township fiscal officer;
– Paid $103,186.19 in warrants and EFTs.
– Accepted the police department, fiscal officer, litter program and road department reports.
– Announced that they will host a collection of light truck and car tires (off the rims) from 8 a.m. to noon Saturday, Aug. 28 at the township administration building. No tractor or heavy equipment tires or tires with water will be accepted, and households are limited to 10 each.
Their next meeting will be held at 6:30 p.m. Monday, Aug. 23 at the township administration building.
