Showcasing Southern Local

Southern Local’s annual District Showcase is back, but there are changes in store in light of COVID-19.

Activities are set from 5-7 p.m. May 20 and an outdoor affair is being organized for attendants. Organizer Laura Krulik, district director of special education, said previous events were held in March but the event is now occurring later.

She added that teacher displays may look a little different but everyone’s favorite activities will still take place. A dozen community agencies are set to appear while the football boosters will provide a takeout-only pasta dinner fundraiser for the team from 4-6 p.m.

Among the agencies and exhibits on hand will be Opportunities for Ohioans with Disabilities, Columbiana County Department of Job and Family Services, county Emergency Management Agency, Community Action Agency Head Start, Blue Sky Employment, Family Recovery Center, Mercy Health Dental Van, Red Zone, Family Children First Council, Columbiana County Mental Health and Rehabilitation Services, Southern Local Future Farmers of America, Utica Shale Academy and a basket raffle for a cause. Krulik said more may be added to the venue.
