High school sweethearts Jim and Dorothy Tice to celebrate their 65th wedding anniversary. Married at Grace U.P. Church in East Liverpool in 1956, the former Dorothy Mae Stoakes, daughter of the late Ruth and John Stoakes, became the bride of James R. Tice, the son of the late Bea and Bob Tice on March 10th, 1956. George Parfitt was best man and Barbara Richardson Noonan served as maid of honor.

The Tice’s are lifelong residents of East Liverpool. Jim retired from Crucible Steel in 1983 and Columbiana County Health Center in 1999. He most recently worked at Alpha Care. Dorothy worked at City Hospital, also retiring in 1999.

Jim has been a champion of youth sports in the Tri State area for over 55 years. He coached young men’s basketball and baseball and umpired high school baseball, basketball and softball. He was recognized for his achievements in 1988 receiving the East Liverpool Baseball Distinguished Service Award. Most recently he was inducted into the Beaver Local Athletic Hall of Fame in 2016. Dorothy volunteered many years at the Old Timer’s Complex and she was recognized for her service there as well.

The couple has four sons: John (Brenda) of Calcutta, Rick of Indianapolis, Kevin (Carrie) of East Liverpool and Scott of East Liverpool. They have eight grandchildren and six great grandchildren.

A reception will be planned for the summer.
