East Liverpool -- The Thompson Park Board of Commissioners met virtually for a brief meeting last week.
The body agreed to hire Ryan Lilly as a new part-time assistant park manager and to purchase a new 5.5' x 10' trailer from Tractor Supply for $1,099 to move its fleet of equipment on as requested by Park Superintendent Shawn Rybaczenko. The purchase will come out of the newly renewed park levy money, explained East Liverpool Auditor Marilyn Bosco.
In an update on the restrooms, Rybaczenko said that the blueprints have been dropped off for the contractors, and officials currently are waiting to hear back with a start date.
Tamar Cooper was unanimously elected president, and there was discussion about ways to honor the service of past board members.
Board members also discussed purchasing shirts for park employees to make it easier for them from non-staff in the park setting.
Mayor Greg Bricker did express confidence that with the COVID vaccine recent introduction that it would be effective in flattening the curve and allow the park to open this year. "I'm optimistic (Thompson Park) will open. We have a few months, and it will be up to the (East Liverpool) Health Department.
The Thompson Park board next plans to meet in person at 4 p.m. Feb. 18 at council chambers.
In addition to Cooper, park board members in attendance were Mark Hissom, Mike Chronister, Scott Thornberry and Rick Wolf in addition to Mayor Bricker, Auditor Bosco and Rybaczenko.
