LISBON -- An East Liverpool man was sentenced to five years in prison for a shooting incident in October 2018.
William E. "Bill" Show, 40, Royal Lane, East Liverpool, was sentenced to four years in prison on charges of felonious assault and improperly discharging a firearm at or into a habitation or a school safety zone. He received one-year consecutive sentence for the firearm specification, which is mandatory.
Speaking before Judge Scott Washam before sentencing, Show said Christopher Craft ran up on his brother and pulled a weapon. Washam questioned Show's version stating evidence showed it was Show and his brother who came up with weapons.
Show claimed the shooting was self defense and both of the guns belonged to his brother, William "Frank" Show, who died on April 1, 2019. William "Bill" Show had removed one of the guns, a 38-caliber revolver, from the center console of his brother's vehicle and shot Craft.
Assistant County Prosecutor Tammie Riley Jones said during the hearing that Craft did recover from his injuries, being treated and released the same day.
Washam further questioned Show firing into the building nearby, which was the East Eighth Street, East Liverpool, home of Jerry Mellott, according to court documents. Show had reportedly fired again at Craft while he was running away.
Show requested time to get things lined up, including someone to look after his wife, but the request was denied by Washam, who ordered him taken into custody immediately.
