Five displaced by Wellsville blaze

WELLSVILLE — A structure fire swept through a village triplex, destroying it Monday night.

Fire Chief Barry Podwel reported Wednesday that the home, which is owned by Frank and Marsha Delligatti, was located at 800 Broadway.

Two of the apartments had adult residents, Jonathan Pulley and Misty Tice, and the Red Cross responded to provide them assistance.

Pulley was not home, but Tice and her three children were home. A third apartment was vacant, Podwel said.

Sixteen firefighters responded to the blaze from Wellsville as well as an additional 16 from neighboring departments (nine Liverpool Township and seven Highlandtown). There were no injuries.

The fire started in the Tice apartment around 7:50 p.m. and Podwel said it is undetermined at this time. “It is still under investigation, but the state fire marshal has not been contacted,” he said.

The five-bedroom, four-bathroom house had been built in 1900 and was valued at $62,800, according to the county auditor’s website.
