SRMC suspends visitation
Salem Regional Medical Center is suspending patient visitation indefinitely beginning today. Visitors will not be permitted to enter the building as a precaution against the spread of the coronavirus (COVID-19). A visitation exception will be considered for special circumstances, such as end of life situations or those who are essential to the well-being and care of patients, i.e. those with significant physical or mental disabilities.
County ESC
The Columbiana County ESC Office will be closed to the public from March 23 – April 3, 2020. Anyone with a need or concern connected to the ESC can contact us at 330-424-9591 between the hours of 7:30 a.m. and 4:30 p.m.
Drive-thru only at Home Savings
Home Savings Bank will serve customers at drive-up teller windows starting today and through appointments as needed. All drive-thru locations will remain open normal business hours to assist customers. Online Banking, Mobile Banking, and ATMs are suggested alternative options.
BL meal distribution
Beaver Local Superintendent Eric Lowe said their meal distribution program will be expanded off-site today. Parents of district children can pick up meals from 11:30 a.m.-1 p.m. at the following locations: Alpha Care, St. Clair Avenue; Ohio Valley Business College, state Route 170; Commercial Decal, Y & O Road; Church of Nazarene, West Point Road; Pancake Auto Body, state Route 170; and the post offices in Elkrun and Lisbon. Lowe reported more than 400 students received meals the first two days. Parents can still stop by the school during the same hours on Monday, Wednesday and Friday.
Brightside Project food bags
The Brightside Project crisis relief team will be on location, distributing bags of food to kids (ages 3 to 18) in need. Donations of child-friendly food items are being accepted at the Salem Area Chamber of Commerce on our behalf or call to schedule a drop-off, 234-564-0148. Monetary donations may be made at www.brightsideprojectohio.org or checks can be mailed to P.O. Box 314 in Salem.

Thursday, March 26 – 2 to 4 p.m. Clip-N-Claws parking lot, 74 N. Market St., East Palestine (East Palestine, Negley, New Waterford) and 5 to 7 p.m. Lisbon Head Start parking lot (Lisbon, Elkton, Rogers, West Point).
Saturday, March 28 – noon to 2 p.m. United Local High School parking lot, 8143 state Route 9 in Hanoverton. (Hanoverton, Winona, Salineville, Kensington).
Protective equipment needed
Our healthcare system in Columbiana County is in great need of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE). If there are any physician offices, dentist/orthodontist offices, veterinarians, manufacturing facilities, autobody shops, farms, tradesmen and do-it-yourselfers that are not open at this time and have extra unused PPE, please consider donating. Columbiana County Emergency Management Agency (EMA) will be coordinating these efforts on behalf of the county's response to COVID-19. Beginning tomorrow, March 20, those willing to donate unused PPE for Columbiana County's response to COVID-19 should call the Columbiana County EMA at 330-424-9725, Monday through Friday, 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. for drop off arrangements.
Busy Beaver revised hours
Busy Beaver hardware/home improvement stores are open and operating with revised hours across the chain's 24 stores in Pennsylvania, Ohio, and West Virginia, including its True Value Hardware stores in Moon Township, Latrobe, Salem, Canton and Minerva. Beginning March 18 and through March 29, Busy Beaver's temporary store hours are Monday through Saturday 7:30 a.m. – 6:00 p.m. and Sunday 8:00 a.m. – 6:00 p.m. True Value's temporary store hours are Monday through Saturday 8:00 a.m. – 6:00 p.m. and Sunday 9:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m.
