LISBON -- Glenn A. McKenzie, a former Yellow Creek Township trustee, has been indicted by the county grand jury on several counts following an alleged drunk driving accident on Dec. 7, 2018. The indictment was served on Wednesday.
McKenzie, 61, state Route 39, Wellsville, is charged with two counts of aggravated vehicular assault, both third-degree felonies; two counts of vehicular assault, both fourth-degree felonies; and a misdemeanor citation of operating a vehicle while under the influence of alcohol, a drug of abuse or a combination.
The charges claim McKenzie was responsible for causing serious physical harm to Wilma and Donald Smith and that he was under the influence while driving, which was not mentioned at the time of the crash.
According to highway patrol reports at the time, McKenzie was traveling north on state Route 39 when he drove off the right side of the road, over-corrected back onto the road and overturned left of center into a guardrail and the Smiths' southbound vehicle. The Smith vehicle also was then struck from behind by another vehicle.
Following the accident, McKenzie and the Smiths were all flown by Stat MedEvac to UPMC in Pittsburgh where they were treated.
McKenzie resigned his seat on the Yellow Creek Township trustees' board in September stating at the time he was leaving the board for health reasons. The resignation was effective as of Thursday.
