BOARDMAN -- A Columbiana County woman has pleaded not guilty in connection with an Aug. 19 traffic accident in Mahoning County that claimed the life of a 69-year-old man.
Theresa A. Bosel, 48, entered an innocent plea in Mahoning County Municipal Court to vehicular homicide/manslaughter, driving left of center and failure to wear a seatbelt.
Vehicular homicide/manslaughter is a second-degree misdemeanor, not a first-degree misdemeanor as the newspaper was originally told.
Bosel, who is county recorder, is scheduled to be arraigned in court at 9 a.m. Sept. 6.
The accident occurred on Western Reserve Road at 11:15 a.m., when Bosel reportedly went left of center in her Jeep Wrangler, striking a GMC Terrain operated by Drema Kessel, 70, of Salem.
The Wrangler also struck a Ford Fusion, which was behind the Terrain.
The driver of the Fusion, Cecil Chamberlain, was taken by ambulance to nearby St. Elizabeth Hospital in Boardman, where he was pronounced dead upon arrival.
His passenger, 66-year-old Roberta Chamberlain, was also taken to the hospital but with non-life threatening injuries.
Bosel was not injured, and neither were Kessel or her passenger, Felecia Detchon, 25, of Salem.
