EAST LIVERPOOL -- City police detectives are investigating an attempted robbery Tuesday of an East End gas station during which a firearm was brandished.
According to police, two men entered the Mainland Gas Station on Pennsylvania Avenue at 6:59 a.m., wearing all black, one with a hoodie and a mask and the other with a bag over his head.
One of the men had a gun, according to a cashier, who said they threw a plastic bag on the counter.
Detective Kevin Thompson said the men were unaware another person was in the rear of the store and they left without getting any money after they realized a second person was there.
No vehicle was seen.
Police had published a still photo from a surveillance video in the hopes someone might recognize the men or the clothing they were wearing, which included a brightly colored pair of athletic shoes.
Thompson said Wednesday there was no new information on the case.
