East Liverpool High School to host sixth annual College and Career Fair

EAST LIVERPOOL -- East Liverpool High School will host its sixth annual College and Career Fair on Wednesday, bringing together colleges, universities, trade schools, employers, military recruiters, and career professionals to help area students explore opportunities available after high school.

The event will be held from 9:45 a.m. to 2:10 p.m. in the Potter Fieldhouse at East Liverpool High School, 100 Maine Blvd.

This year's fair will provide students with an opportunity to connect directly with representatives from more than 60 colleges, training programs, employers, military branches, and career pathways. Representatives will be available to answer questions about admissions, financial aid, training requirements, employment opportunities, career preparation, and more. Some participating colleges will also waive application fees during the event, and select employers will accept resumes and applications on site.

Area Schools Invited to Participate

The morning session, from 9:45 to 10:30 a.m., will welcome students from Lisbon High School, Wellsville High School and Crestview High School. East Liverpool High School sophomores will also have an opportunity to explore the district's career and technical education displays.

ELHS juniors will attend the fair from 11:07 a.m. to 12:10 p.m., followed by ELHS seniors from 12:14 to 1:17 p.m.

Colleges, Universities and Training Programs

Participating institutions include The Ohio State University, Kent State University, Youngstown State University, The University of Akron, West Liberty University, Franciscan University of Steubenville, Gannon University, Bethany College, Community College of Beaver County, West Virginia Northern Community College, Wheeling University, University of Mount Union, Muskingum University, Tiffin University, Geneva College, Hiram College, Thiel College, La Roche University, and others.

Students interested in specialized career training will also have opportunities to meet representatives from organizations including New Castle School of Trades, Rosedale Technical College, Rockefeller School of Practical Nursing, Bella Capelli Academy, and The Douglas Education Center.

Careers, Employers and Military Opportunities

The fair will feature a broad range of employers and community organizations representing careers in healthcare, public safety, skilled trades, engineering, finance, energy, transportation, design, and other industries.

Participants include the East Liverpool Fire Department, East Liverpool City Health Department, East Liverpool City Hospital Pharmacy, Ohio Department of Transportation, Ohio Natural Energy Institute, Hancock County Savings Bank, Hill International, Hickey Metal Fabrication, Marsh Bellofram, North Star Critical Care Ambulance, Community Action Council Pharmacy, Great Clips, The Fiesta Tableware Company, and many more.

Representatives from the U.S. Air Force Reserves, U.S. Navy, U.S. Army, and U.S. Marine Corps will also be available to speak with students about military service, education, and career opportunities.

Showcasing ELHS Career and Technical Education

The College and Career Fair will also highlight the growing Career and Technical Education opportunities available to students right at East Liverpool High School. Programs represented will include: Allied Health & Nursing, Automotive Technologies, Construction Trades, Cosmetology, Early Childhood Education, Engineering, Entrepreneurship, Interactive Multimedia Arts, Landscaping, Public Safety Services, and Visual Design & Imaging.

Career Tech students will also participate in judging during the senior session.

The annual College and Career Fair reflects East Liverpool City Schools' commitment to helping students discover the many pathways available to them following graduation whether that next step is a four-year university, community college, technical or trade program, military service, or entering the workforce.
