NAMI Walks Columbiana County

Advocate and raise donations for people with mental illness and their friends and families in Columbiana County. With a donation, help NAMI keep programming and support groups free to the community. Donate or walk with the group Oct. 17 at the Columbiana County Fairgrounds. There will be T-shirts, give aways, refreshments and resource tables. Registration starts at 9 a.m. The walk begins at 10 a.m. Register at namiwalks.org/columbianacounty. Teams and organizations are welcome as well as individuals. Expanded hours offered for walk-in mammograms during Breast Cancer Awareness Month

In recognition of Breast Cancer Awareness Month, three walk-in 3D mammogram screening events will be held in October at Salem Regional Medical Center (SRMC) and ARC Medical Imaging in Canfield and Columbiana. Convenient access to mammograms is important for early breast cancer detection and treatment.

Expanded walk-in hours for mammogram screenings will be offered at each location on the following dates:

Oct. 13 from 4-6 p.m. at ARC Medical Imaging in Columbiana, located in Suite 101 on the ground floor of the SRMC Surgery and Outpatient Pavilion at Firestone Farms, 400 Town Center Avenue.

Oct. 14 from 4-6 p.m. at ARC Medical Imaging in Canfield, 5002 Millennial Lane at the corner of Route 224 and Palmyra Road.

Oct. 19 from 4-6 p.m. at SRMC's main campus, 1995 East State Street in Salem, in the Medical Imaging Department on the ground floor.

No appointments or doctor's orders are required for walk-in mammogram screenings at any of these locations.

Salem Regional Medical Center currently offers walk-in 3D mammogram screenings from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday through Friday at both ARC locations; and from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Monday through Friday at SRMC's Medical Imaging Department, main campus.

Tops 1341 meeting

Tops 1341 met at the Glenmoor Presbyterian Church Monday with Mary Gailey, facilitator, presiding. Marlene Reynolds was the best loser and Cathy Wollam and Cheryl Myers were the runner up. They chose cookies and chips as the junk food for the coming week.

The drawing winners were: 50/50 and junk food, Gailey; food chart, Reynolds; weight loss, Wollam; and jackpot, Lydia Kraft.

Darla Varney now holds the travel box. Seven members remain on the check.

The meeting opened with pledges and closed with prayer concerns and the Lord's Prayer.

WLC Club meeting

The WLC Club met Sept. 29 at the Living Well Church with leader Mary Jarvis opening the meeting with the pledge and roll call and then Mary Schmidt led the group in prayer.

The best losers were Betty Pease and Martha Baxter and Donna Lee wore the officers ribbon.

The nono for the week is ice cream and all sweets. Linda Seevers won the dimes. Barb Tranter won the 50/50 drawing.

The correction to was last weeks minutes was that Barb Q led the group in prayer.

Lee gave the treasurer's report and Young read the minutes. Both were approved as read.

Gladys Buzzard will do the program for October.

Make sure to bring a decorated tea pot and any items the group were responsible for.

Tranter read a funny and then Jarvis closed the meeting wishing all a good week.
