NEW CUMBERLAND - The Newview CEOS club recently announced the winners of the Beresford's Meats gift card raffle. Melody Kirbaugh of East Liverpool, granddaughter of Club President Virginia Lawrence, won the $50 gift card. Angela Duty of New Cumberland won the $150 prize, and Jeannie Ostrander, also of New Cumberland, won the grand prize of a $300 card. The event was so successful that the club is planning two raffles for next year - one for meat in time for the summer grilling season and one for groceries later in the year.
Lesson for the month was flowering bulbs, presented by Master Gardener Doris Musselman. Of particular interest was the idea of planting bulbs in a layered, lasagna style, in containers. By planting spring flowering bulbs in layers, each container can provide a variety of blooms and color from February through May. Once the leaves die back, the containers can then be used for summer flowers or vegetables.
The next meeting of the Community Educational Outreach Service will be Oct. 7 at 11 a.m. at the Hancock County Senior Center.
