ELHSAA celebrates 32nd Annual Olde Guard Luncheon, honoring alumni and lifelong Potter traditions

EAST LIVERPOOL -- The East Liverpool High School Alumni Association (ELHSAA) welcomed alumni back to their alma mater on June 24 for the 32nd Annual Olde Guard Luncheon, a tradition celebrating graduates who continue to exemplify the enduring spirit of East Liverpool High School.
This year's event recognized Robert Hall, Class of 1953, as Olde Guard King and Diana Smith Smith, Class of 1962, as Olde Guard Queen. Smith's recognition held special significance as she is the daughter of Eva Smith, the ELHSAA's oldest graduate, who recently passed away. Attendees took time to remember Eva's legacy and her lifelong connection to East Liverpool High School.
Phyllis Conley was recognized as the oldest alumna in attendance, receiving warm applause from fellow Potters.
The luncheon brought together graduates from across the decades to reconnect, share memories and celebrate the bonds formed at East Liverpool High School. Guests enjoyed an afternoon of fellowship, the singing of the school alma mater, and musical entertainment by Bill Crawford, Class of 1981, featuring songs that transported many back to their high school years, including favorites from the 1960s.
The event was made possible through the dedication of countless volunteers and community partners. ELHSAA extended appreciation to Jeff Kreefer ('76), ELHSAA president; Nancy McKernan Evans ('83), luncheon chairperson; Cindy Swogger Waggle ('68); Jan Toot ('76); ELHSAA volunteers; L&B Donuts and Catering; Fiesta Tableware Company; East Liverpool City Schools; Coach Paul Cusick and the Potter football players; Petal and Pearl; and Keystone Printing for their support and contributions.
