East Liverpool Friends of the Library Book Sale

The Friends of the Carnegie Public Library in East Liverpool will be holding book sales during the month of July. The book sales will be held July 8, 15, 22, and 29 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. each day in Carnegie Library’s Community room. Browse the collection of children and adult books, DVD’s and hardback reference books. All proceeds from the sale will benefit the Friends of the Library activities and events.

Yellow Creek Presbyterian Church to host baked steak dinner

Yellow Creek Presbyterian Church, state Route 45, Wellsville, will host its baked steak dinner from 4 to 6:30 p.m. July 8. The dinner will include baked steak, mashed potatoes and gravy, green beans, coleslaw and dessert. Cost is $12 for adults and $6 for children. Sit down or carry out at 330-532-2000.

Tops 1341 meets

Tops 1341 met at the Glenmoor Presbyterian Church on June 22, with Mary Gailey, facilitator, presiding. Marlene Reynolds was best loser and Cathy Wollam was runner up. They chose no eating after 6 p.m. and fried foods as the junk foods for the coming week.

The drawing winners were: 50/50, Gailey; food chart, Darlene Naukam; weight loss, Darla Varney; and Reynolds, junk food winner.

Naukam lost three weeks in a row. Wollam was three times in the best losers book. Reynolds held the travel box for week one. There are four members remaining on the check.

Cassie Ensinger presented the program on the celebrated June Holidays and a discussion followed.

At the June 29 meeting, Becky Andrews was the best loser and Varney was runner up. They chose chocolate candy and potato chips as the junk foods for the next two weeks. There will be no meeting on July 6 due to Bible School being held at the church. The next meeting will be July 13.

The drawing winners were: 50/50 and food chart, Reynolds; weight loss, Cindy Hays; and junk food, Lydia Kraft.

Kraft lost three weeks in a row. Andrews was three times in the best losers book. Wollam was in the attendance record for 16 weeks. Kraft now holds the travel box. Two members remain on the check.

Kraft presented the program reading from an article in AARP magazine, entitled “Why I Hungry?”, and a discussion followed. Bingo was played and fruits and vegetables were given as prizes.

Yearly elections will be held at the meeting on July 13.

The meetings opened with pledges and closed with prayer concerns and the Lord’s Prayer.
