Hancock County Democratic Women collect items for ‘Women in Need’

WEIRTON – Hancock County Democratic Women held a Quarter Auction and collected period supplies for women and girls as part of their “Women in Need” project during the group’s Meet the Candidates program in May. Prime 304 and the Silent Book Club were also contributors to the boxes.

As a result, the group wsa able to donate to the Community Breadbasket. Other donations have gone to the Lighthouse, Table of Hope, Oak Glen Middle School and FISH in Chester.

The group has boxes at Mary H. Weir Library (Weirton), Lynn Murray Memorial Library (Chester), Moe’s on Main (Follansbee) and GOAL “Giving Ourselves Amazing Lives” (located at the Millsop Community Center).

On Aug. 15, during the Hancock County Back to School Resource Fair, HCDW will distribute small “Just in Case” bags for people to carry for themselves or for a friend in need.
