BOSTON, Mass. — Three East Liverpool High School students earned national recognition after competing against 15 teams from across the United States at the Junior Achievement Titan National Competition hosted at Boston University.

Representing East Liverpool City Schools, Hunter Estell, Deonte Slappy and Brady Dawson earned the prestigious CNA Operational Stewardship Award, which recognizes exceptional leadership, strategic thinking, and business decision-making throughout the competition.

The Junior Achievement Titan competition places students in the role of corporate executives, challenging them to make critical decisions involving production, marketing, research and development, pricing, and workforce management while competing in a dynamic business simulation environment.

In addition to competing on a national stage, the Potter students made the most of their time in Boston by participating in professional development and networking opportunities. Through PwC’s Leading Edge program, students learned the importance of building professional relationships, connecting with peers from across the country, and expanding their professional networks by engaging with fellow participants and industry professionals.

The group also participated in team-building activities designed to strengthen collaboration, communication, and leadership skills, providing valuable real-world experiences that extend beyond the competition itself.

“Competing against 15 of the top Junior Achievement Titan teams from across the country at Boston University was an incredible opportunity for our students,” said advisor Robert Nizer. “Hunter, Deonte and Brady demonstrated outstanding leadership, collaboration, and strategic thinking throughout the competition. Earning the CNA Operational Stewardship Award against such a talented field is a remarkable accomplishment and a reflection of the hard work and dedication they put into every aspect of the challenge. Beyond the competition, they embraced every opportunity to network, learn from professionals, and build connections that will benefit them long after this experience. We are extremely proud of how they represented East Liverpool High School and the Potter community on a national stage.”

The students’ success highlights East Liverpool City Schools’ commitment to providing authentic learning experiences that prepare students for college, careers, and leadership opportunities. From competing against top teams in the nation to developing professional skills and confidence, the Potter trio exemplified what it means to represent their school with excellence.
