East Liverpool City Hospital earns top marks on Lown Institute Ranking

EAST LIVERPOOL — East Liverpool City Hospital has received an “A” Grade in METRIC and has been named #1 in the state on the 2026 Lown Hospitals Index for Social Responsibility, demonstrating excellence. Only 160 out of more than 3,600 U.S. hospitals achieved this status by earning top grades across measures of health equity, value, and outcomes.

East Liverpool City Hospital also received the following accolades on the Lown Index:

— ‘A’ Grade in Cost Efficiency, Pay Equity, Patient Outcomes, Patient Safety, and Clinical Outcomes.

— Top five in Ohio for Social Responsibility

— Lown Honor Roll Recognition since 2024

The Lown Hospitals Index is the only national ranking that examines how equitably care is delivered, how well hospitals invest in their communities, and whether patients receive high-value care that avoids unnecessary procedures, in addition to clinical measures. More than 50 metrics contribute to a hospital’s overall score.

“At East Liverpool City Hospital, we take immense pride in providing outstanding healthcare services to our patients and the community we serve. This award shows the dedication, commitment, and hard work from all our staff in delivering excellent patient care and focusing on our mission. It is a true testament to the compassion, skill, and teamwork that defines our hospital, and this achievement belongs to every staff member who makes high quality care their priority every day,” said Valerie Sharp, MSN, MBA, RN, Associate Chief Nursing Officer and Director of Performance Improvement and Risk Manager.

“The best hospitals aren’t just clinically excellent, they’re deeply committed to the communities they serve and work hard to ensure all patients get the care they need,” said Vikas Saini, MD, president of the Lown Institute. “High performance on the Lown Index shows that hospitals are doing more of what matters to patients and communities.”
