Madison Township road to remain closed

Cream Ridge Road in Madison Township will remain closed through June 26 from state Route 7 to Glenn Road for a culvert pipe replacement.

Wellsville River Museum celebrating America with events

WELLSVILLE — The Wellsville Historical Society’s River Museum, 1003 Riverside Ave., Wellsville, will host multiple events celebrating America’s 250th birthday.

Upcoming programs include:

Eddie Murphy will portray Harriet Tubman at 2 p.m.Sunday, June 21.

William Johnson will portray John Hancock at 2 p.m. Sunday, July 9. Johnson is the author of seven novels set during the Revolutionary War and is currently working on his eighth.

Tim Brookes will present a program on the Civil War at 2 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 2.

Additionally, the museum will be open from 1 to 4:30 p.m. Sundays, June 21, July 5, 12, 19 and 26, and Aug. 2 and 16. Admission is by donation.

County park board to hold special meeting

The Columbiana County Park District board will meet in special session at 5:30 p.m. Monday at the park office, 130 Maple St., Lisbon. Agenda items to be discussed and possibly voted upon are review of financial reports, draft budget for the year of 2027, estimate for roof repairs of the park office and hiring of a second seasonal maintenance worker. Choose To Lose Group

Choose To Lose Group met at Boyce Church June 16 with leader Penny Perorazio presiding. The meeting opened up with the pledge of allegiance followed by the CTLG roll call.

Pam Fouse gave the secretary’s report and Cassie Stephens gave the treasurer’s report. Both were approved as read.

Stephens was the CTLG biggest loser. Jackie Wilson was the runner up.

Dottie Seevers won the food journals and the dimes that were held over. Carolyn Hager won the Share The Blessing.

The no no’s are salty snacks and no process meats.

Winners of the No Fibbing Contest are Pat Heacock, JoAnn Beresford, Perorazio, Stephens, Jean Ferrebee and Fouse.

Members who lost weight got to Put A Turtle In The Tank: Margo Arnold, Jackie Wilson, Seevers, Heacock, Stephens and Fouse.

Perorazio read an article by Joyce Meyers on “Keep Your Opinion To Yourself.”

Perorazio closed the meeting with prayer requests followed by the Lord’s prayer. New and former members are always welcome. For more information call 330-383-8217.

WLC Club

The WLC club met June 9 at the at the Living Well Church in Wellsville. Mary Jarvis opened the meeting with the pledge and roll call and the group was led in prayer.

The best loser was Donna Lee and she also wore the officers ribbon. Nancy Hart had three weeks with no gains. The no-no for the week is all sweets. The 50-50 drawing was won by Janice Mont. Next week, Peggy Imburgia and Barb Tranter are going to bring cookies. The tea party is going to be held on Sept. 29 and the picnic will be on Aug. 4. More info will come later in the month.

Tranter read a funny and then Jarvis closed the meeting wishing all a good week.

Tops 1341

Tops 1341 met at Chef Rays on June 8 for fellowship after weigh-in at the Glenmoor Presbyterian Church. Marlene Reynolds was the best loser and Pat Allison was the runner up. The picnic basket drawing was won by Allison and Cheryl Myers. The baskets were made by Chris Plunkett.

Mary Gailey, facilitator, presided over the meeting at the church on Monday, June 15. Patty Gruszecki was the best loser and Lydia Kraft was the runner up. They chose chocolate candy and potato chips as the junk foods for the next week.

The drawing winners were: weight loss and 50/50, Kraft; food chart, Reynolds; junk food and monthly food chart, Dorothy Garn. Cheryl Myers was the jackpot winner.

Allison lost three weeks in a row. Gruszecki was the three times in the best losers book and returned from vacation without a gain. Darla Varney was in the attendance record for 120 weeks, and Kraft was in attendance for eight weeks. Reynolds now holds the travel box. Six members remain on the check.

The secretary report was approved as written.

Cathy Wollam presented a program and quiz, taken from AARP magazine, “How Old Are You?” A discussion followed. Cassie Ensinger will provide the program next week.

The meeting opened with pledges and ended with prayer concerns, brags and the The Lord’s Prayer.
