Museum of Ceramics to host lecture on local American pottery and design

EAST LIVERPOOL — The Museum of Ceramics, 400 E 5th St., invites the public to attend a special lecture May 16 at 4 p.m.

The lecture, “American Pottery – American Aesthetics and the Twentieth Century” which will be presented by David Sneer, senior product designer, Fiesta Tableware Company, will provide “insight into the evolution of ceramic design and its connection to broader trends in American culture and manufacturing,” according to a press release.

Sneer, who is a native of Newell, West Virginia, has been designing products since 1992. He graduated from Rhode Island School of Design and “built a distinguished career rooted in a passion for American manufacturing,” the media release said.

Sneer’s professional experience includes working with the Longaberger Company and FGXi, a design studio affiliated with Foster Grant.

“This lecture provides a unique opportunity to hear directly from a leading designer whose work continues the rich tradition of American ceramics,” the media release said.

The event is free and open to the public.
