CALCUTTA – The fifth annual Tri-State Area Youth Showcase of Talent took place April 12 at Beaver Local High School. Sponsored by the Cleda Marie Fitzjohn Memorial Music Trust, a total of 19 local students, from grades 5 through 12, performed at this year’s showcase.

Student performers included: Ella Paras, Parker Comm, Kaden Rice, Mason Boggs, Lillie Wyse, Lili Hughes, Kaylee Culbreth, Jenesis Nally, Emily Allen, Adyson Parsons, Emily Bowersox, Jackson Phillips, Benjamin Murphy, Abram Murphy, Adeline Bean, Kenzie Hayes, Sophie Taylor, Wyatt Shafer and Connor Wade.

The Cleda Marie Fitzjohn Memorial Music Trust was established in 2017 by John D. Fitzjohn to honor the life and memory of his mother who loved music and all her life encouraged young children to pursue their interest and improve their skills in music of any type. It is hoped through the Trust, her efforts will continue to be carried on for many years into the future.

The Trust annually awards scholarships to qualifying students of music who reside in northern Hancock County (W.Va.); the school districts of Beaver Local, East Liverpool and Wellsville; and Midland Borough (Pa.).
