Coal Country Roubaix returns to Lisbon

LISBON — Cyclists from across the country will once again descend on Columbiana County as the Coal Country Roubaix returns on April 25, bringing with it a full weekend of racing, community events and small-town charm.

Race weekend officially kicks off on Friday, April 24, with a relaxed 11-mile community social ride beginning at 4 p.m., giving participants a chance to check out the Greenway Trail and enjoy a group photo at a local covered bridge. Packet pickup will follow from 5 to 7 p.m. at the Lisbon Square Pavilion, with a casual group dinner planned later that evening at Cantina 70 Bar & Grill.

Saturday’s main event begins early, with registration opening at 7:30 a.m. and a mass start at 9 a.m. Riders will tackle one of several course options, each highlighting the challenging hills and gravel roads that define the area’s cycling landscape. Spectators can also enjoy a free kids race at 10 a.m., reinforcing the event’s family-friendly atmosphere.

Adding to the day’s festivities, the Rusty Bull Taco Truck will arrive at 11:30 a.m., providing food and refreshments for riders and attendees alike. Awards will be presented throughout the day as top finishers cross the line, recognizing the top three competitors in each category.

Event organizers say the heart of Coal Country Roubaix lies in its community support and the camaraderie among participants. Local sponsors, volunteers, and businesses continue to play a key role in the event’s success, helping create an experience that goes beyond just a race.
