Chester Garden Club holds meeting
CHESTER – The Chester Garden Club held its first meeting of the year on March 25 at the Chester Municipal Building. Ki Trelaine conducted the meeting in the absence of President Jeanne Roberts.
Devotions Leader Donna Stevens read “The Legend of the Folded Napkin”and gave the prayer/blessing before refreshments were served.
Mary Ann Wright gave the treasurer’s report.
Members made plans for this year’s flowers for planters along Carolina Avenue. Paige Rayle, Kat Rossi, and Trelaine agreed to handle the selection and purchasing of the flowers. The committee will decide which types of flowers to use and report their decision at the April meeting.
Members discussed replacing the Christmas decoration and two gnomes that disappeared from the planters, but no decision was made.
The group decided to add a couple of filled flower pots to the Richmond Garden to add seasonal color. Members will check on the best price for buying pots and report at the next meeting. Rayle reported Susie Wilson had trimmed the rosebushes in the garden.
A discussion was held on the election of officers and committee members for this year. The slate of officers will be finalized at next month’s meeting.
Trelaine, head of Programs & Education, asked members to brainstorm and come up with suggestion for speakers they would like to hear in the future
The next meeting will be on Wednesday, April 22 at 1 p.m. at the Chester Municipal Building. New members are always welcome.
