SRMC announces expansion into Calcutta to support continued patient care
CALCUTTA – Salem Regional Medical Center (SRMC) will open SRMC Primary Care- Calcutta on April 13 in the Calcutta Medical Arts Center, located at 48462 Bell School Road. SRMCmade the commitment to expand its network of healthcare services into Calcutta after learning that Heritage Valley will be closing its services at the end of March.
SRMC’s leadership emphasized that maintaining continuity of care and supporting current patients through this transition is their top priority.
“We understand that patients in the greater Calcutta area depend on this office for their routine care and diagnostic services,” said Anita A. Hackstedde, M.D., President/CEO. “We want this community to know that we are here for them and we’re committed to keeping these essential services locally accessible.”
Service Openings
On April 13, SRMC Primary Care- Calcutta will open for both primary care and walk-in urgent care, Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Family medicine physician Dr. Katarina Barlow and Nurse Practitioner Kelly Fischer will be providing care starting April 13, and Dr. Marcela Purtell will resume seeing patients starting May 20. Scheduling updates for upcoming visits are in progress.
SRMC’s transition plan includes resuming lab and radiology services in April. Current patients can call SRMC Central Scheduling, 330-332-7300 to schedule radiology tests at an alternate SRMC location until the Calcutta site opens.
Strong Community Ties
The facility has deep roots in the community. It was built and opened in 2001 by Dr. Rick Beatty, who provided outpatient care there for 15 years before transitioning to hospitalist medicine in 2016. Now serving as chief medical officer at SRMC, Beatty is helping guide the building’s transition into a center for local, clinical excellence.
“It’s a privilege to come full circle and continue serving the greater Calcutta community at the Calcutta Medical Arts Building,” said Beatty. “Having founded this facility 25 years ago, I’m truly grateful to help support its next chapter with Salem Regional Medical Center. Our shared goal is simple: to make sure this community continues receiving the care it counts on, with the compassion and commitment it deserves.”
Patients with questions about upcoming appointments or services can call the SRMC Medical Group at 330-556-6666.
