EAST LIVERPOOL East Liverpool High School students are celebrating an outstanding performance at the Junior Achievement (JA) Titan Competition held at Youngstown State University. Potter teams earned first place and nearly swept the top four spots.

The JA Titan Competition is a high-impact business simulation that challenges students to think like corporate executives. Working in teams, students make strategic decisions in areas such as production, marketing, research and development, capital investment and corporate social responsibility. The experience builds critical skills in leadership, financial literacy, teamwork, and problem-solving while competing head-to-head against other schools.

Bringing home first place were Hunter Estell, Brady Dawson, and Deonte Slappy. The win marks a remarkable back-to-back championship for Estell and Slappy. With their first-place finish, the team has earned the opportunity to advance to the JA Titan National Competition this summer at Boston University.

East Liverpool also secured additional top finishes:

¯ Third place: Ella Gunning, Rowan Stokes and Hailey Board

¯ Fourth place: Maddox Roach, Emily Hernandez and Andrew Dalton

The strong showing by all three teams nearly resulted in a sweep of the tournament’s top positions and highlights the strength of ELHS students in business education and competitive academic events.

“We are incredibly proud of how our students represented East Liverpool,” said Megan Hoffrichter Hernandez, Director of Communications. “Their preparation, teamwork, and professionalism were evident throughout the competition.”

Special recognition is extended to Robert Nizer for his behind-the-scenes coordination and support in organizing the teams and ensuring students were prepared for competition.

Starting at $2.99/week.
