SALINEVILLE – Caty Brewer has been selected as the Salineville Kiwanis Scholar of the Month for February.

The Southern Local High School senior is the daughter of Kyle and Jenny Brewer of Salineville and currently ranks 20th in her class with a 3.694 GPA. She has been active in the Spanish Club for two years, student council for four years and a member of the SLHS FFA Chapter for four years, the latter of which she currently serves as treasurer and has been named the top fruit salesperson for four years. She also has been a member of the Baler Twines 4-H Club for five years and president for the past three years. Additionally, she has done extensive community service work with the Franklin Township Volunteer Fire Department, the Columbiana County Jr. Fair Board, and the Salineville Kiwanis Club.

Caty also has established an extensive athletic career at SLHS, including as a one-year letter winner in basketball, a two-year letter winner in golf, three-year letter winner in track and field, and four-year letter in cross country. She has received numerous awards in track and cross country during that time, including honorable mention and championship awards for her 800-meter runs and relay team, as well as First Team, Second Team, and Honorable Mention EOAC, OVAC, All-County, and All-District.

After high school, Caty plans attend college and pursue a degree in radiologic technology.
