Nathan Schwerha named East Liverpool High School Scholar of the Month
EAST LIVERPOOL — East Liverpool High School has named Nathan Schwerha Scholar of the Month in recognition of his outstanding academic achievement, leadership, and commitment to service.
Nathan, the son of Greg and Robin Schwerha, has earned a 3.959 GPA and is currently ranked second in his graduating class. Throughout high school, he has challenged himself academically through a schedule of Honors, Advanced Placement (AP), and College Credit Plus (CCP) coursework.
Nathan is a member of both the National Honor Society and the National Technical Honor Society. He is also enrolled in the Engineering Career Tech Program, where he and his teammates earned first place in the Manufacturing & Tools Industry Category at the state level during his junior year. The team was recognized for this accomplishment at the Ohio Statehouse on Jan. 16.
In addition to his academic success, Nathan has been a standout student-athlete in soccer. He has earned four varsity letters and served as co-captain for two years. His honors include First Team All Buckeye 8 (junior and senior years), First Team All District (junior year), Second Team All OVAC (junior and senior years), and Second Team All District (senior year).
Nathan has also been actively involved in school and extracurricular activities, including the Outdoor Adventure Club for four years, the Robotics Team for three years — earning the Creative Award at the county competition during his junior year — the Fellowship of Christian Athletes for four years, and the Booster Club.
Committed to giving back, Nathan volunteers through Mission Wellsville, Vacation Bible School, Toys for Tots, Olde Colour Guard Luncheons, and at the Beaver Youth Soccer Fields. He is also a certified youth soccer referee, officiating games for all age groups, and works at Dunham’s.
After graduation, Nathan will attend Rosedale Technical College, where he will pursue a degree in Industrial Electricity before completing an apprenticeship to become a certified electrician.
“Nathan exemplifies the dedication, leadership, and service that make our Potter students shine,” district officials said. “We are proud to recognize him and look forward to seeing all he will accomplish in the future.”
