East Liverpool senior recognized for earning rank of Eagle Scout

EAST LIVERPOOL – East Liverpool High School Class of 2026 senior Elijah Grogg has received formal recognition from Ohio Auditor of State Keith Faber in honor of earning the prestigious rank of Eagle Scout. Grogg was also named Buckeye Council Eagle Scout Project of the Year – Honorable Mention for his outstanding service project benefiting the local community.

As part of his Eagle Scout project, Grogg led the restoration of the headstones of 400 veterans interred at Riverview Cemetery in East Liverpool. His project required extensive planning, coordination, and volunteer leadership, while demonstrating a deep commitment to honoring those who served our country. The restoration work preserves an important piece of local history and ensures that the sacrifices of veterans are respectfully recognized for generations to come.

The Buckeye Council Eagle Scout Project of the Year award recognizes exceptional projects that exemplify leadership, organization, and meaningful community impact. Grogg’s project stood out for both its scope and its lasting benefit to the community.

Dawn Baker, East Regional Liaison for the Ohio Auditor of State’s Office, was on hand to acknowledge Grogg’s achievement and present the state recognition.

Earning the rank of Eagle Scout is the highest honor in Scouting America and represents years of commitment, perseverance, and service. Grogg’s continued involvement in mentoring younger Scouts further reflects his dedication to leadership and community engagement.
