St. Clair Township Police Department warns about solicitations from number associated with dispatch center

St. Clair Township Police Chief Brian McKenzie is urging residents to beware of scammers after the police department received notification of scammers attempting to collect money from residents by the callers indicating they are associated with the police department and using a phone number that is connected to the department's dispatch center.

McKenzie said this has been happening with police departments up and down the valley, and it has now hit them.

"We can assure you that we would never solicit money via phone and ask you for any personal information or credit card information," the department said on social media. "Please be cautious."

The East Liverpool Police Department is also cautioning residents against calls received for solicitations from anyone indicating they are associated with the East Liverpool or St. Clair Township police departments. The East Liverpool Police Department says they have nothing going on at this time where they would be asking for money.
